Hot Lunches
The following article was published by the Sunday Observer
"Children who ate healthy school meals instead of packed lunches, scored higher marks in tests, were less disruptive and concentrated longer in the classroom."
At St George's we provide a range of healthy and nutritious school meals at a competitive daily charge. We are committed to the long-term aim of improving the health of all our school children. We strongly believe that having a nutritionally balanced meal provides our pupils with the capacity to focus mentally and physically throughout their school day.
If you are eligible for Free School Meals, based on a household income of less than £16,190 then please click here for more information. Registration for Free School Meals supports the school with additional income which is used to benefit these pupils.
Healthier Snacking
At St George’s we always encourage healthy eating and an active lifestyle during the school day and we would love for this to continue when the children leave the school gates.
Government research shows that children eat 3 times more sugar than they should, with 50% of this sugar coming from snacks and sugary drinks. That’s why Change 4 Life is focusing on healthier snacking.

Allergies and Intolerances
If your child/children have any allergies or intolerance to any foods, please contact the school kitchen manager, Ms Harinder Bassan through the school office.
Packed Lunches
We do not allow fizzy drinks, crisps, sweets or chocolate (including chocolate covered biscuits) in packed lunches. We also ask parents not to include nuts of any kind in your child's packed lunch box. Some children have nut allergies and even sitting next to a child eating nuts may cause an allergic reaction.
